| As we enter the new millennium we find Recording
Artist ~ Vocalist, Khani Cole, continuing to ride
the success of her 1997 & 1998 Fahrenheit Records releases,
Piece Of My Soul (1/97) & Places
(6/98). Over the last five years, Khani and her band have performed
over 200 nights/dates per year including, some of the most prestigious
festivals and events both state-side and abroad.
Khani's
assent into the national and international consciousness began after
relocating to Phoenix, Arizona from her native Milwaukee, Wisconsin
in 1992. The move, which initiated many personal changes, sparked
the inception of her very first release, Piece Of My Soul,
on Fahrenheit Records. Piece Of My Soul was an album with great
depth harmonically and lyrically and was quite a departure from
the production and performance trends heard on NAC Radio at that
time. The release caught on nationwide; specifically in markets
with a more liberal radio philosophy. Piece Of My Soul featured
jazz greats Brian Bromberg, Joey DeFrancesco and Marc Russo, among
others as Khani and her band toured the summer of '97 and were met
with an overwhelming positive response.
Khaniís follow-up release, Places, co-produced
by Marion Meadows and featuring the likes of Nelson Rangell, Tony
Guerrero and Johnny DeFrancesco was a NAC Radio gem and the album's
first single, a cover of the classic Blood Sweat & Tears' favorite,
You've Made Me So Very Happy, climb to the top 30 on the
NAC Radio charts as Khani and the band played 28 U.S. cities including,
Art Goodís Catalina Island Jazz Trax Festival, along with
other noted festivals and events throughout the country. Khani made
her first trek into Europe playing Dusseldorf and Munich, Germany
as Places met with fantastic reception on European radio and with
Euro- audiences.
When not home with her two daughters in Scottsdale, AZ, Khani
can be found at her second home - A Different Pointe Of View at
The Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs in Phoenix. The Khani Cole Band
including, Mel Brown (Gladys Knight, Brian McKnight, Marc Anthony),
Mike Florio (Nelson Rangell, Angela Bofil, Marion Meadows) and Joey
Navarro (Jennifer Page, Greg Adams, Sister Sledge) continue their
unprecedented run at the world-class, mountain top resort in the
heart of Phoenix. This January ('03) will mark Khani's seventh year
at the resort. Khani states: "The Pointe has been a wonderful
gig; I've had some of my finest professional moments there. Some
of the greatest musicians and artists on the planet have come up
to play with me and the band has a wonderful magic and vibe. Folks
will often ask questions like, "when are you gonna' make it
(laughs);" I always tell them, look around, I have made it
(laughs)".
