By the tender age of 13, Bob was enrolled in Louis Tannen's
Summer School of Magic, an annual intensive training program
for young enthusiasts of magic. Instruction came from only
the best in the field such as Jeff McBride and Vito Lupo.
These masters taught not only "the secrets", but
also the theatrically sound professional presentations of
them. By 17 the Tannen organization recognized his burgeoning
ability by promoting him to the position of teaching counselor.
Though the term "magic" generically describes what
he does, skill and hard work more accurately describes the
nuts and bolts of his profession. Bob doesn't work from the
stage with birds, scarves and boxes that make pretty assistants
disappear. Instead he spins his deceptions at point blank
to the viewer. Up close. Under their noses. Using ordinary
small objects with which everyone is familiar, such as playing
cards, currency, jewelry and even rubber bands.
More importantly, his laid-back yet humorous demeanor allows
him to blend in to even the most sophisticated, refined atmosphere.
He makes lasting impressions in black-tie corporate ballroom
functions just as well as informal shirt-sleeve company picnics
with children. He can circulate the hospitality suite or work
the evening entertaining at busy restaurants. And, because
of his extensive experience with nightclub work, Bob can even
dazzle the ever-boisterous bar crowd with both his tricks
and his chops. After all, those were the first opportunities
ever available to him.
Bob has been published in magicians's trade journals, and
is currently authoring his own treatise for the trade entitled
"Variant Finesse".
